Section 41A of the Factories Act, 1948 mandates prior site approval for factories involving hazardous processes. For establishing a new factory or for the expansion of an existing factory carrying out hazardous processes, the management is required to submit an application to the Site Appraisal Committee constituted by the respective State Government.
